Next, the sensed statistics were reported to the CloudCoordinator that utilized this information in undertaking load-migration decisions.
We evaluated a straightforward load-migration policy that performed online migration of VMs across federated cloud providers in case the origin provider did not have the requested number of free VM slots available.
Further, the simulation experiments were conducted under the following system configurations and load-migration scenarios: (i) in the first setup, a federated network of clouds was available where data centers were able to cope with high demands by migrating the excess of load to the least-loaded ones; and (ii) in the second setup, the data centers were modeled as independent entities (without federation or not being part of any federation).
It showed that, even for a very simple load-migration policy, federated Cloud resource pool brings significant benefits to the end-users in terms of application performance.
